OK, so it was yesterday's news but I can't NOT muse on this one....
Colts lost to the Chargers in OT mostly because the Colts defense got a couple of really stupid and really egregious penalties on the first possession that put the Chargers firmly in the red zone. At what really grinded my gears up was that the Chargers were 3rd and 10 on their own 48 yard line when the first penalty occurred. Holding...only 5 yards, which is not so bad, BUT it was an automatic first down. NOT GOOD! So then, on the next play, the most egregious facemask I've ever seen. And we all know that any facemask infraction is 15 yards, don't we? (Seems like the player didn't, or alternatively, is too dumb to realize that it's really STUPID to intentionally facemask and incur a 15 yard penalty when the opponent is on the 47th yard line in your own territory during sudden death overtime.)
And to borrow a phrase from my dear friend Peter Griffin (aka Family Guy), "That's what really grinds my gears!"
