Today's Topic: The Charlotte Soft Pretzel Shortage (OH MY!)
Being someone from the Philadelphia area originally, I love my soft pretzels. And they sell them in the corporate cafe here in Charlotte, but there seems to be some of sort of third world country rationing of them, as if we Philly people won't share them with the South.
First of all, the corporate cafe will not put pretzels out until 11:20 am. And at that point, only 8 pretzels will get put out...and that's only on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays. Monday and Friday seem to be remarkably devoid of pretzel supplies. Because only 8 pretzels are made a day, they are usually sold out by noon.
Here's the thing I don't get: why only 8/day? And why only 3 days/week? They have never thrown out a pretzel. I often hear others asking "Do you have any more pretzels?" and others cursing "Dammit! They're out of pretzels already!!!" Would it kill them to make 10/day? Even if they tried it just for a week to see if they wasted any, would it be so hard?
WHY OH WHY CAN'T I GET A SOFT PRETZEL IN CHARLOTTE?!?!?
